Artificial Intelligence is evolving quickly
but the systems that are meant to guide it are still catching up.
At Checkpoint Initiative, we ask the harder question:
“How can these tools serve people in crisis, not just profit from them?”
🧠 Our Approach
Our focus is safety-first design for AI tools that may one day support:
-hospitals, security, and governing operations
-Overdose prevention and Trauma-informed recovery paths
-Child safety
-Privacy-respecting data systems that work offline
We’re early-stage, but grounded.
These ideas are currently protected under a U.S. provisional patent, with both digital and physical layers drafted, but we don’t treat that as a badge. It’s a placeholder for what could be, if done right.
🔍 What’s Next
We’re starting simple:
Collecting and sharing key Executive Orders and federal actions that shape how AI is being pushed into health, housing, and harm reduction.
Breaking them down in plain language so everyday people, not just policymakers, can actually see what’s happening.
Launching a local input process – inspired by global efforts like Control AI, where communities can share their concerns and see practical solutions tied to them, not just policy talk.
That’s it. No theories, no spin. Just a first step toward helping people understand and influence the systems that are already shaping their lives. With Checkpoint focused on turning concern into action.
🕊 A Note on Alignment
We’ve engaged with initiatives like Control AI and groups focused on transparency and governance. We support many of their calls for caution. We also believe that solutions matter more than slogans.
Our team is just getting started. We are actively seeking aligned collaborators, researchers, and developers who share our vision and values. If interested please reach out at [email protected]
Our work goes beyond sounding the alarm.
We aim to hand communities the keys to shape their own future.
More details coming soon.
(In the meantime, there are official orders that directly involve the United States and the coming age of AI. In mobile and tablet, they are at the bottom of the page. On desktop they are on the top right side of this page in “Posts” )
We support initiatives like Control AI, who are pioneering global democratic input on AI governance, and share their concern that these systems must remain accountable to the people they affect. Our approach at Checkpoint is to take that spirit of accountability and tailor it locally — so communities have both a voice and practical tools they can use.
